Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Comics Translate stores locally, what the license system stores, and what is not uploaded to our servers.
Effective date: July 5, 2026
1. Local app data
The desktop app stores settings, license status, chapter metadata, OCR files, translation files, rendered images, and uploaded manga images locally on your Mac app data folder.
2. Manga images
Your manga pages and uploaded images are processed locally by the desktop app. Comics Translate does not upload your manga images to our own server for storage or processing.
3. Gemini API key
Your Gemini API key is entered in the desktop app and used to call Google Gemini from your device. The key is not sold by Comics Translate and is subject to Google's own terms, quotas, and privacy practices.
4. AI provider requests
When you run translation, OCR text and related page context may be sent to Google Gemini using your API key. When you use Vision Fix, the selected image crop and selected OCR text may be sent to Google Gemini. These requests go to the AI provider, not to Comics Translate servers.
5. License data
To activate and recheck a license, the license API may store license key metadata, activation status, plan, device identifier or device hash, timestamps, and activation events. This helps prevent abuse and provide support.
6. Sales and support data
If you contact support or buy a license manually, we may keep your email address, customer name, order reference, sale channel, support notes, and license history so we can help with activation, revoke, or reissue requests.
7. Website data
The sales website is a simple product site. Hosting and security providers may process normal technical request data such as IP address, user agent, request path, and timestamps for delivery, security, and logs.
8. Payment providers
Automatic payment is not connected in the current MVP. If a payment provider is added later, payment details will be handled by that provider under its own terms and privacy policy.
9. Data retention
We keep license and support records only as long as needed for sales support, fraud prevention, accounting, or product operations. You can contact support to ask about your license/support record.
